Mark Haffner is an Emmy Award-winning film and TV composer, arranger, recording and mix engineer, and all-around great guy to talk to about making a living in the music business, music production, career consulting, creativity, and marketing yourself in the modern music age.
Mark gained extensive knowledge of the writing and production of music and audio for promotional and advertising video content, which has led to a lifelong career in production work and song licensing for film, TV, ads, and music libraries.
EARLY YEARS
At the age of 15, Mark's band, Troubadour, won a talent search contest and was offered a record deal featuring original songs he had written and produced with the band. The band decided to turn down the record deal and pursue college separately.
COLLEGE
Mark attended the prestigious jazz school at North Texas State University (now known as the University of North Texas) studying piano, sax and later earned a Music Business BBA degree from Belmont University in Nashville. Initially forming a jingle company with one of his Belmont professors within the first 2 weeks of his junior year.

He later moved to Northern California and soon after to Los Angeles, where he continued writing music themes as scores as Mark Haffner Music and became a partner at Our Gang Productions, a television on-air promotion & branding agency in Santa Monica.
Mark's clients have included Disney, Columbia TriStar, Orion Pictures, CBS, NBC, ABC, All-American Television, Atlantic Records, Warner Bros Records, Foodchain Records, KABC, KCAL, WABC, WPVI, KPIX, KRON, and numerous other prominent companies.

Mark composed the music theme for The Disney Channel's “The Magical World of Disney” featuring live rhythm section, pop/gospel singers, & orchestra.

Jericho and Lifetime
Mark also composed the music underscore and was Music Editor for the feature film, “Jericho,” as well as additional music composer and score manager for the Lifetime made-for-TV film, “My Husband's Ex.”
